I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with you all this school year. My name is Stacy Cabrera, and this is my fourth year on campus here at Mira Costa. Before coming to Costa, I taught tenth and twelfth grade English in Downey – my hometown. I received my Bachelors degree in English, with a minor in Philosophy, from California Baptist University in Riverside in 2007, and completed my Teaching Credential from Cal State Long Beach in spring of 2009. I also recently completed my Masters degree in Philosophy at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in spring of 2013.
Philosophy is my utmost passion. I am well-versed in the classics through the moderns, but my individual interests reside in Interpretative theories, Hermeneutics, and Aesthetics. My favorite philosopher is Hegel, and his work Phenomenology of Spirit and also have a particular affinity for Kant's Critique of Pure Reason. In literature, I am a self-proclaimed Huxley scholar, and can't wait to teach my absolute favorite book in this class, Point Counter Point. I hope to also, some day, complete a PhD. in Literary Theories and Criticism and publish a book of my own philosophical theories which I informally call my "cosmic explorer" theories.
If you ever have any comments, questions, or concerns, please feel free to contact me either by phone (ext. 5200), or by email ([email protected]). I look forward to meeting with, speaking to, and working with all of you!
